Mild Steel Wire for General Engineering Purposes according to IS 280:2006 is designated based on diameter (Cl 7) and condition (Cl 9.1). Samples for independent testing are drawn for size (Cl-7) and finish (Cl-10), covering wires of all sizes and coatings. For conditions annealed and soft drawn, one sample is drawn and tested, while for hard, ½ hard, and ¼ hard, one sample is drawn and tested. The applicant must have complete manufacturing and testing facilities for all sizes, finishes, and conditions applied. Toys are classified into two types for certification purposes, with one primary standard applying for licenses and the other as secondary standards. Toys are further classified into seven categories and 146 sub-categories based on their specific purpose and function. For certification, all varieties of toys of similar design, made from the same materials, and covered under a single sub-category are considered as a series.

Sampling and testing guidelines for Grant of Licence (GOL) and Change in Scope of Licence (CSoL) are followed. Non-electric toys samples of any one model of toy from among all models in the same series are drawn and tested for consideration. Electric toys are further sub-divided into battery operated, transformer toys, and dual-supply toys. Models with similar designs in terms of safety requirements and materials (e.g., LLDPE, PVC, HDPE, cotton fabric) are considered for consideration.
